Inspired by the ancient Beaker pottery unearthed across this part of England, this hand-crafted leather box brings a little prehistoric design into the present day.
The Beaker people arrived in Britain around 4,500 years ago, bringing with them a distinctive style of pottery decorated with intricate geometric patterns. Characterised by bands of lines, zigzags, diamonds and repeated impressions, these vessels are among the most recognisable objects of the early Bronze Age.
Drawing on this remarkable history, each leather Beaker box is individually made and decorated with hand-tooled geometric markings. No two are ever quite alike, with each piece carrying its own arrangement of patterns and the subtle variations that come from working entirely by hand.
Available in tan, chocolate brown or natural leather, the medium lidded box is as useful as it is beautiful. A lovely addition to a desk, bedside or dressing table, it can hold small treasures and everyday essentials.
An ancient decorative language, reimagined in leather for the modern home.

BRITISH CRAFTSMANSHIP
Leather has played an important part in the working history of the Notswolds. Northamptonshire became one of Britain’s great centres of shoemaking, while the hunting and equestrian traditions of Leicestershire and Rutland supported the work of saddlers and harness makers.
These were crafts shaped by necessity as much as beauty. Leather was chosen for its strength, repaired rather than replaced, and expected to improve through years of use.
That relationship with the material still feels relevant today. We look for contemporary leatherwork that draws on those traditions without being bound by them — well made, useful and intended to acquire character with age.

A contemporary take on the traditional milking stool, made in solid hardwood with a hand-woven rush seat by Summerfield + Scott in Northamptonshire.
Small in stature but surprisingly useful, its pared-back timber frame is topped with rush harvested and prepared by hand, then woven in the workshop using traditional techniques. Each stool is made individually, with variations in the timber grain, colour and rush weave giving every piece its own character.
Designed to move around the house and find its own purpose — beside the bath, next to a bed, as a footstool or a seat for smaller members of the household. A familiar piece of country furniture, reconsidered for the contemporary home.
