Ceramics have an unusually close relationship with their maker. The material is worked directly by hand, with every decision in form, proportion, surface and glaze becoming part of the finished piece.
Britain has a distinguished tradition of pottery, from its historic centres of production to the studio pottery movement and the independent makers working today. It is a craft that continues to evolve, with contemporary ceramicists bringing new ideas to techniques refined over generations.
We are drawn to pieces that balance skill with individuality: objects made for use and enjoyment, where the hand of the maker remains present and no two are ever entirely alike.

Jess Ellis creates vessels for flowers and plants, defined by soft feminine silhouettes and nuanced glazes. Each piece is wheel thrown and finished by hand, refined through a slow process of shaping, trimming and glazing to create objects that feel calm, purposeful and enduring.
Originally trained in architecture, her practice grew from a deep appreciation for the tactile nature of clay and the quiet rhythm of making by hand. She now works from her small studio in Leicestershire, developing a body of ceramics shaped by restraint, balance and a considered approach to form.

Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and prolonged soaking. As each piece is handmade, slight variations in form, colour and glaze are part of its character.
