BRITISH CRAFTSMANSHIP
Leather has played an important part in the working history of the Notswolds. Northamptonshire became one of Britain’s great centres of shoemaking, while the hunting and equestrian traditions of Leicestershire and Rutland supported the work of saddlers and harness makers.
These were crafts shaped by necessity as much as beauty. Leather was chosen for its strength, repaired rather than replaced, and expected to improve through years of use.
That relationship with the material still feels relevant today. We look for contemporary leatherwork that draws on those traditions without being bound by them — well made, useful and intended to acquire character with age.
