MOTHERS DAY BOUQUETS

There is a lot of talk about flowers as Mother’s Day approaches on Sunday 15 March. It is one of the busiest weekends of the year for florists. But not all bouquets are created equal.

Across the region, florists bring character to their towns and villages, help sustain the high street, and work closely with small scale growers and British suppliers. Here is our guide to the best independent florists in the Notswolds.

  • Ode to Joy

    Stamford

Seasonal, thoughtfully composed arrangements, working with ethically sourced stems and harmonious colour palettes. The Ironmonger Street studio places a natural, sustainable approach at the heart of its practice. The result is floral work that feels romantic yet beautifully structured.

Alongside Mothering Sunday bouquets, you’ll find elegant gifts, flower subscriptions and workshops available to order online or in the atelier. Local delivery is offered across Stamford, Rutland and the surrounding PE9 villages, with flowers arriving carefully wrapped and beautifully presented.

Ordering early is recommended to secure your preferred design and delivery date.

  • fōrm&blōm

    Oakham

Founded in 2025 by architects Adam and Cristina, the studio brings together furniture and floristry on Mill Street in Oakham. Drawing on decades of experience in architecture and design, they approach flowers with a sculptural eye, creating arrangements that feel structured, deliberate and quietly confident.

Rooted in quiet luxury, compositions are pared back and intentional, with a clear emphasis on form, balance and proportion. Set alongside a curated edit of furniture and interiors pieces, the floristry sits naturally within a wider design conversation.

Orders are now open for Mother’s Day, with arrangements available for collection from the studio.

  • Foxtail Lilly

    Oundle

A small, independent florist run from the garden plot of Tracey Mathieson, South Street in Oundle. From this beautiful, well tended garden, Tracey creates seasonal arrangements that feel naturally gathered rather than overly styled, shaped by what is thriving and at its best.

Working on an intimate scale allows her to pay close attention to colour, movement and texture. The garden setting is not incidental, it informs everything, from the stems she chooses to the loose, abundant feel of her bouquets.

Foxtail Lily is taking orders for Mother’s Day until Friday 13 March. On the Saturday before, florists’ choice bunches will be available only.

  • The Flower Plant

    Sileby, Leicester

An award winning independent florist with a distinctive, contemporary edge. Known for arrangements that balance drama and restraint, the studio places quality firmly at the centre of everything it does.

Its iconic flower fridge has become something of a local landmark, stocked with beautifully conditioned stems ready to be chosen. Alongside fresh flowers, there is a thoughtful edit of houseplants, vases and plant pots.

The Flower Plant is taking orders for Mother’s Day and delivers throughout North East Leicestershire, with wider East Midlands delivery available by arrangement.

  • The Bloom Project

    Leicester

Known for fun, modern floristry with a youthful edge, founder Emma's floristry is built around bold colour and unusual stems, creating something that feels fresh and individual rather than formulaic. The overall feel is confident and energetic, without being overworked.

Part of the vibrant Clarendon Park community, the shop itself is a colourful little jungle. A flower fridge takes centre stage, filled with interesting, often unexpected blooms, alongside a strong edit of houseplants.

Online orders are available. Mother’s Day deliveries will be made between 8am and 1pm, with click and collect also available from the shop.
