JUSTIN CAPP LEATHERWORK
Justin Capp is a British leather craftsman with over 25 years’ experience making and teaching traditional leatherwork from his rural studio in Thurning, Northamptonshire. He’s known for combining hand carving, tooling and hand-stitching with practical design to make beautifully finished leather accessories that are built to last.
Justin also shares his craft through a variety of hands-on workshops held from his studio, where participants learn core skills such as hand cutting, stitching, pattern-making and finishing while making functional items like bags, belts, wallets and more. These sessions are welcoming to beginners and experienced makers alike, and often include supportive, small-group tuition.
In addition to his own teaching programme in Northamptonshire, Justin is a tutor at the Marangoni Institute in London — a fashion and design college where he teaches leather-working techniques to students on accessories and fashion degrees.
His personal work blends traditional leathercraft with practical utility, producing belts, wallets, bags and bespoke accessories shaped by hand, with surface carving and tooling that reflect decades of practice.

SUE KIRK
Working with home grown willow, Sue and Kirk create baskets and sculptural pieces rooted in sustainability and traditional craft. First inspired in 1998 by the environmental benefits of willow and the longevity of the practice, their work begins in organically cultivated willow beds near King’s Cliffe, where several varieties of basket willow are grown and harvested by hand. Just a mile away at The Old Brewery Studios, the willow is woven into bespoke traditional and contemporary baskets and sculptural forms.
Each piece reflects a close relationship between material, landscape and process, balancing practical function with an expressive, sculptural quality. Alongside private commissions, Sue and Kirk contribute to a wider culture of craft education, regularly hosting specialist basketmakers from across the UK and Europe to share knowledge, techniques and a continued respect for this enduring rural practice.

SUMMERFIELD + SCOTT
Summerfield + Scott is a rural workshop dedicated to the careful restoration of antique and vintage furniture, reviving well-made pieces through traditional craft and thoughtful repair. Every object is worked on by hand, preserving character while ensuring it can be lived with for generations to come.
At the heart of the Northamptonshire studio’s work sits The Rush Project, which champions the heritage craft of rush weaving and promotes rush as a renewable, locally sourced material for furniture making and restoration. Rooted in centuries of tradition across the East Midlands and Britain, the project preserves rare skills while giving rush new relevance in contemporary design. By supporting both craftsmanship and the ecosystems that sustain it, Summerfield + Scott is helping secure the future of a British heritage industry once central to rural life.
Alongside restoration, the studio curates a small, considered collection of interiors pieces, bringing together restored furniture, decorative objects, original art and handmade ceramics.
As seen in Country Life, The World of Interiors, The Telegraph, The English Home.
