FLAVELL TRADING
Flavell Trading is the Rutland studio of Peter and Jo Flavell, designing and making distinctive objects for the home, with wood at the heart of their work. What began with pieces made for their own home has developed into a collection of useful, beautifully considered objects, each made by hand and with a strong sense of material and purpose.
Their work is led by a respect for the raw material. Timber is chosen for its grain, character and provenance, then worked into pieces that celebrate rather than disguise its natural qualities. Reclaimed and locally sourced woods give each piece an individuality of its own.
From sculptural chopping and serving boards to flower presses, trugs, stools and one-off pieces of furniture, their woodwork sits alongside a small collection of vintage linen homeware and accessories, including cushions and bags.
Theirs is a particularly pleasing kind of craftsmanship: simple, useful things, made exceptionally well.
